Sprung Dance Floors

Safety, performance, portability and durability – these are some of the most important considerations when choosing a wood floor for a dance studio or a portable dance floor for use in a multi purpose space.

Dancers interact with the floor more closely than any other part of the studio or performance space and they have to trust the surface completely. A shock absorbing surface is essential to avoid injuries, as is the right level of friction and "feedback" so they can perform at their best. Aesthetics are important too. The right floor finish will create the best environment for creativity and motivation. The beauty of solid hardwood is hard to beat in this respect.

Wooden dance floors

Junckers manufactures specialist dance floor systems for professionals to grass roots level, and for all styles including contemporary, modern, ballet, ballroom, and for dance-based fitness classes such as Zumba. In education too, Junckers wooden dance floors are found in spaces where A level dance syllabus is taught.

THE IDEAL FLOOR BOARDS
Junckers dance floors are designed to provide optimum shock absorption, surface deflection and slip resistance. The range includes a full spectrum of stained colours from white shades, grey and natural wood tones, to jet black.

Junckers also offers natural Beech, Ash, Maple and Oak, for the traditionalists. Junckers narrow two-strip floorboards create clean lines which are ideal for contemporary or minimalist concepts, whilst wide planks can be used to create a raw and earthy, or naturally rustic appearance.

Technical performance

There are no dediated technical standards for dance floors and the benchmark most often used is EN 14904 for multi purpose sports floors. This makes sense because athletes usually look for the same performance and safety characteristics from the floor as dancers.

Junckers has a wide range of floor systems that comply with EN 14904 and dancers usually prefer the more shock absorbing category A4 floors as defined by the standard.

For the designer Junckers offers a range of dance floor systems to suit different construction levels and subfloors, all providing the high quality sprung dance floor that dancers need.

Also for uneven subfloors, Junckers DuoBat 120+ system is a levelling system which offers an elite performance level.

PORTABLE DANCE FLOORS
Junckers Portable Dance Floors are the ultimate in versatility.

Sub-construction: The foundation for your dance floor

Sub-construction refers to the underlying structure that supports the surface of a dancefloor. The sub-construction of a dancefloor plays a critical role in the overall performance and safety of the floor. A well-constructed sub-floor and sub-structure provide a stable foundation for the surface, ensuring that the floor remains level and does not warp or buckle over time. They also help to absorb shock and reduce the impact on dancers' joints, helping to prevent injuries.

At Junckers you can choose between a wide variety of sub-constructions that will fit any need you might have.

Easy cleaning and maintenance of your dance floor

Maintenance of a Junckers dance floor is simple. On a daily basis, it is more than enough to use a scrubber-dryer machine with a low dosage of water. To keep the floor in optimal condition, we offer maintenance products such as resin remover, degreaser and mild soap products.

Additionally, we produce our own sports lacquer. The lacquer is approved in accordance with the European sports standard EN 14904 and has a high ability to bond with the existing surface. This means that only a light screening of the floor is needed before refreshing with one coat of our sports lacquer. If years of hard wear require a more comprehensive refinishing, it is possible to sand the floor down for complete restoration. If a sports floor is regularly maintained, sanding down to bare wood is rarely necessary.

Solid hardwood dance flooring - Certified wood and caring for the indoor climate

Junckers only use wood from forests managed in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way. Planting new trees as old ones are cut down is one of the characteristics of sustainable forestry. To protect the climate, we strive to use wood harvested as close as possible to our factory. This is why our raw wood is mainly sourced from forest areas in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Poland.

Junckers achieved Chain of Custody certification in 2006 and has since been able to offer PEFC certified products. In 2010, we also achieved certification under the FSC® scheme.

Furthermore, we have a wide range of wood flooring and woodcare products that carry the Danish Indoor Climate Label. The Indoor Climate Label is your guarantee that the products do not have odours or chemical substances that can adversely affect the air quality in the room.

Pre-finished surface for your dance floor

Junckers solid hardwood floor systems are pre-finished, fast to install and cost effective. This all helps the installer to keep to his schedule and means that the owner will have minimal “down time” before the studio will be ready for use. A solid hardwood floor offers unbeatable life cycle costs and the initial cost will be less that a similar synthetic floor finish, with all the low carbon and environmental benefits that solid hardwood brings.
