Town House - Kingston University

SOLID OAK NORDIC FLOORING FOR NEW ´TOWN HOUSE´

Grafton Architects designed Town House, a new mixed-use teaching facility for Kingston University. The interior of the six-storey building is arranged around a series of interlocking, open plan spaces, where Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring features as part of limited materials
palette.

The impressive colonnaded façade reveals a dynamic space where the university’s library and archive, dance and performances spaces sit happily alongside two cafes and several adaptable
learning spaces. Junckers’ 140mm Textured Oak Nordic Classic flooring clads the treads and risers of the imposing staircase in the triple height courtyard, as well as providing a hardwearing floor surface for large seating areas across the first floor.

The pale oak floor which has a brushed, tactile finish, infuses the interior with a natural warmth and promotes a healthy indoor climate. All-natural, solid hardwood is free of any chemical substances which adversely affect indoor air quality. The flooring contractors were PICA
Floorings.
